Is a man with a van in Edinburgh cheaper than van hire?

For most small moves it works out similar or cheaper once you count fuel, insurance and your own time — and the driver does the lifting with you.

What size van do you use?

Most bookings use a Luton van, which fits roughly a studio or one-bed flat. Smaller jobs may get a medium van.

Can you move our office from London to Edinburgh?

Yes, by arrangement. We plan the move well ahead, agree a fixed price and can pack IT and files in advance. We avoid August where we can because of festival road closures.

Moving in Edinburgh — local notes

Stone tenements in Marchmont and Leith, Georgian townhouses and flats in the New Town, Victorian villas in Morningside and modern apartments in Leith and the waterfront.

Tenement flats often mean several flights of stone stairs and no lift. The city centre has controlled parking and loading restrictions, Old Town streets are cobbled and steep, and August’s festivals bring road closures.
